Stretch Marks

In this post, I will tell you some information about stretch marks.

They first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter range. The affected areas appear empty and are soft to the touch.

Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. No stretch marks will form as long as there is support within the dermis. Stretching plays more of a role in where the marks occur and in what direction they run. Stretching alone is not the cause.

Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body, but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored. Most common places are the abdomen (especially near the belly-button), breasts, upper arms, underarms, thighs (both inner and outer), hips, and buttocks. They pose no health risk in and of themselves, and do not compromise the body's ability to function normally and repair itself.

If you have stretch marks that you would like to minimize or get rid of entirely, you might want to try one of the many creams and lotions that are on the market today. Stretch mark cream and lotions that target stretch marks can be found in drugstores and pharmacies, and are usually over-the-counter medications. You can also get prescription strength cream or lotion from your dermatologist. This type of stretch mark cream can be effective in the process of stretch mark minimization. Some of them even claim to even remove stretch marks of all kinds, forms, and shapes.

Many people try these creams in the hope of getting rid of  stretch marks, without all the costs that come along with medical consultations and dermatologists. There are also costly fees for non-medical and medical procedures to remove stretch marks. Stretch mark creams and lotions seem like the more realistic approach to take if you are on a budget.

It is good to know what is included in these stretch mark removal cream, so that you can choose the right one for your skin type and budget. The following ingredients are found in a variety of stretch mark lotions and creams.

Foods for Good Prostate Health

If you are a man over 50 years old, you’ve probably been advised time and again to get regular check ups for prostate health by your loved ones and your doctors. Take the advice: a healthy prostate can mean the difference between life and death. The earlier you spot the signs of prostate cancer, the easier it will be for you to treat and survive it. Your health is not something to play with, especially when it comes to prostate cancer, one of the leading causes of death among older men.

It's time to throw out those old eating habits along with the copy of Plato's Republic you've had since college--neither of them is doing you any good anyway. Here are eight foods you should start eating to get you on your way. If you're in your 20s, these will give you a head start. And if you're over 40, remember this: It's never too late to treat your body right.

SOY BURGERS FOR HEART AND PROSTATE HEALTH

Why you need them: As a teenager, you could scarf down a three-buck Ultra-Meal in four minutes flat and your waistline would hardly flinch. In your 30s, the saturated fat oozing through every ounce of beef, cheese and special sauce will turn your gut to mush, while cholesterol will slog through your arteries and put you that many minutes closer to a Letterman bypass. Fortunately, the folks who produce vegetarian burgers have been working to make them taste a lot more like the real thing. And while men who eat a lot of fatty meats may be more likely to have prostate problems as they age, moderate soy consumption appears to promote prostate health--something you'll be grateful for when you try to pee or have sex after age 50.

How to buy them: Soy burgers can be found in the frozen-foods aisle of any supermarket. We recommend the Original Boca Burger, which has 13 grams of protein and only one gram of fat.

How to make them: They taste genuine if you give yourself the complete burger experience: On a whole-grain bun, pile a patty or two with such accessories as fat-free cheese, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, mustard and ketchup. Consume while wearing your "Home of the Whopper" boxer shorts.

Remember these foods will not only reduce the risk of an elarged prostate, but also reduce the need for medications like viagra and cialis.

Dehydration Treatment

The risk of dehydration is particularly great in babies, children and the elderly. Because of this danger it’s very important to treat them immediately. Any case of dehydration has the potential to become a life-threatening situation.

Some of the more visible signs of dehydration include thirst, dark colored urine, lethargy or unexplained tiredness, dizziness, lack of tears when crying (mostly in children), headache, or blood in stool (mostly in children). You can also experience dehydration if you’re not drinking enough while doing strenuous activities.

When people become dehydrated as a result of illness or prolonged periods outdoors in the heat, it’s possible to use home remedies for treatment. However, these remedies should not replace immediate medical help when necessary.

Weight and Diabetes: What’s the Relation?

Obesity is an epidemic in the world today.  Diabetes is also on the rise.  Is there a correlation between the two?  The experts say that there is and that you need to know about it.

There are two types of diabetes:  Type 1 and Type 2.  Diabetes is a condition of the body where insulin production is affected in some way.  Insulin production may be non-existent or in limited quantities, or the body may be resistant to using the insulin that is produced.

Let’s go back a step.  Insulin is produced in the pancreas in response to blood sugar levels.  Insulin directs the sugar in the blood to different sites in the body where it is used for fuel.  Depending on the amount of sugar in the blood, more insulin is produced to deal with the issue.
